Gentle Yoga ~ Level 1

Lisa Wells

Co-owner, Lisa Wells, PhD, ERYT500, teaches yoga, pilates, core, meditation, trauma-release and 'Making Peace with Your Body' in addition to co-managing the studio . Her 25+ years of yoga practice have taught her patience, humility and happiness. Lisa has been teaching yoga since 2000. She received her PhD in Geology from Stanford University and in her current incarnation as yoga teacher has been called 'a geographer of the body.' Lisa's yoga classes are for your whole being, as she believes there is no separation between body, mind and spirit.  Her philosophy is grounded in the primacy of love.

Naomi Halpern


Naomi Halpern, RYT 200, earned her initial certification at Shanti Yoga, Nelson, B.C. in 2009 and a follow-up 100 hour certification at Freedom Yoga, Eugene, Oregon in 2011. She is also a certified Pilates Mat instructor. Naomi's practice is informed by the study of Ashtanga and Anusara Yoga, but she is most interested in working to settle our nervous systems and to deeply align body and mind. She brings to class an interest in postural alignment, philosophical study, breath awareness, and self-study through a compassionate lens. She teaches to share the joy and restfulness yoga has brought into her own life and welcomes any student of any level.

Amy Singh

As a teacher, Amy is committed to an ongoing refinement of her teaching style and skills in order to meet the needs of her students. By providing a balance of effort and ease, students have a chance to discover and reflect on the potent parts of their practice. This balance gives Amy’s classes a focus on strength and stability with a nurturing undercurrent. Yoga has been tool for Amy as her body and soul have changed and shifted with the ebbs and flows of life’s tide. Yoga acts as the compass that gently guides her into new territory. During a class with Amy you can anticipate the opportunity to play and explore yoga asana and movements as well as finding a moment of calm and stillness in the beautiful chaos of life. Amy completed her 200 Hour training at Live Well Studio.

Gentle Yoga is yoga practiced at a gentle pace. Gentle Yoga increases flexibility, strength, balance, and endurance while reducing pain, decreasing stress, and improving overall health. This class will teach poses and body awareness with adaptations, modifications and the use of props. Gentle Yoga is appropriate for those new to yoga, those wishing to practice at a slower place, and those with injuries and movement limitations. Students should be able to independently get from the standing to the floor and back. Meditation and savasana bound the practice
