The Yogi's Inner Immersion with Katelin Gallagher Fri, Sep 22, 2017 at 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

A unique, six module intensive for those who are looking for an inspiring, structured meditation and contemplative yogic training that builds session to session. This immersion can be enrolled in separately or as a segment of Live Well’s 200-hr (RYS) Yoga Teacher Training Program.

Live Well Studio’s 2017 yogic immersion program is for serious seekers, yogis, meditators and curious philosophers alike. Our four months of deep study together will follow a rich, sophisticated yogic curriculum and include deepening or progressive meditative practice, philosophical inquiry, postural practice, yogic techniques, community, and dialogue. The weekend-based, 6-module program is designed to investigate embodied contemplative and meditative practice sequentially, beginning with foundations and building gradually to the deeper, dialectical, more esoteric yogic teachings. The immersion builds in preparation for an off-site, guided weekend silent retreat, and a culminating module called "Embodying Love," which is an exploration of contemplative practice off the cushion/yoga mat. Most practices are inspired by or derived from the four schools of Tibetan Buddhism and classical Patanjali Yoga, yet the practices will be held in a greater context of modern, Western, integral spirituality. Clear pathways will be carved by our time together, but each practitioner will weave his or her own journey. Participants will become steeped in practice and methodology, understanding not just the “how” but also the “why.” Entry by application. Led by Katelin Gallagher E-RYT, Buddhist chaplain-in-training.

Live Well Studio 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training, 2017-2018 with Lisa Wells Fri, Sep 22, 2017 at 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Dive deep into the practice of yoga and become a yoga teacher. In the fall you’ll turn your attention inward and firmly establish your personal practice as a yogi. During the winter you will build a strong foundation for sharing your love of yoga with others through teaching. In the Spring, digging deeper into yoga philosophy and world view, you will practice observing and holding space for students, finding your unique voice, discuss the ethics of teaching to a varied population, learn trauma-informed teaching modifications, and offer a full yoga class to your peers. Our Teacher Training includes one weekend long retreat November 10-12.

The fall Immersion program can be taken as a stand alone. It is for serious seekers, yogis, meditators and curious philosophers alike. Our four months of study will follow a rich, sophisticated yogic curriculum and include progressive meditative practice, philosophical inquiry, postural practice, yogic techniques, community, and dialogue. The program is designed to investigate embodied contemplative and meditative practice sequentially, beginning with foundations and building gradually to the deeper, dialectical, esoteric yogic teachings. Participants will become steeped in practice and methodology, understanding not just the “how” but also the “why.” Led by Katelin Gallagher E-RYT500, Buddhist chaplain-in-training.

The winter Immersion will focus on building your foundation for teaching. Each week we work to cultivate your individual voice and to build confidence through teaching practice. During these six sessions we will focus on an advanced study of asana, yoga anatomy, and biomechanics. Asana study and sequencing will include benefits, potential risks, energetic connection, modifications, observation, assists, and the effective use of props. Led by Katie Zarajczyk, E-RYT 500.

The spring Immersion will develop the outer expression of your inner work. We will focus on finding the seat of the teacher through discovering your unique voice and learning how to hold the yoga space for your students. Through the study of Sanskrit and Sacred Texts, Trauma Informed Yoga, Ethics of Teaching, and the Business of Yoga, we will round out this 200 Hour training by teaching a full yoga class to your peers. Our third session, led by Jocelyn Fultz, RYT 500, E-RYT 200.

Making Peace with your Body with Angela Grace Next held on Sat, Oct 7, 2017 at 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
This enrollment runs from Sat Oct 7, 2017 - Sat Nov 11, 2017
Our bodies hold so much on our behalf: fear, anger, trauma, loss. And Wisdom. Yet we wage war with our body repetitively. We eat, drink, sleep, and exercise too much, or not enough. We don’t speak when our gut says to shout. We quell the urge to dance because our dance is too unique. Such acts muffle our internal voice of wisdom/intuition. Yet, we can learn to listen again. We can reclaim the extraordinary resources embodied in our physical form. The techniques of yoga offer an active path toward making peace with our bodies.

Each session will include gentle movement, breath work, meditation, and discussion. You will learn specific techniques that you can practice at home. Discussion topics include the neurobiology of willpower and shame, viragya and abhyasa, self-care and self-indulgence, and the addiction cycle.

This workshop is for anyone wrestling with harmful habits or body image issues.

About Angela Grace Faulk, MS, C-IAYT, ERYT500: Angie has been teaching yoga classes, workshops, and retreats for over 15 years. She is certified with the International Association of Yoga Therapists and Yoga Alliance. In addition, she has a master’s degree in neuroscience. Angie brings a wealth of personal practice and life experience to her teaching, along with a wry sense of humor.

All levels welcome.
No drop in once the workshop has begun.

Saturdays 1-3pm Oct. 7, 14, 21, 23 Nov. 4, 11

Breathe Easy - Breathwork Series with Naomi Halpern Next held on Tue, Oct 10, 2017 at 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm
This enrollment runs from Tue Oct 10, 2017 - Tue Oct 31, 2017
Relieve and strengthen your daily, natural breath. Many of us have formed restrictive habits of breathing that limit our ability to take a full breath and thus also limit our potential to be fully and healthfully alive. Breathing is linked to the function of the heart and circulatory system, nervous system, gastrointestinal system, and affects your mental well-being, concentration, and energy level. In this series, we will explore our breathing habits and retrain the breath patterns to be open and full. This is not a pranayam series. We will use gentle movement, investigative exercise, and mindful awareness to understand and awaken our breath. Please bring a journal.
4 week series, 7-8:15, October 10th-31st

Yoga Mala for Live Well's Karma Fund with Naomi Halpern Sun, Oct 22, 2017 at 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

A "Mala" is a string of 108 prayer beads where each bead holds count for a practice of prayer or meditation. In this class, we will move through 108 sun salutations in similar fashion. Each salution will be a tool to hold attention steady on our chosen intention, meditation, or prayer. Remember: a salutation is as simple as a mindful breath. So no worries if 108 sounds like a lot.

The Yoga Mala is a benefit event to support Live Well's Karma Fund, which in turn gives support to yoga students of limited financial means, making yoga more accessible.

This will be a lead practice, meaning the instructor will practice with the class.

$25-$50 sliding scale. Register online for $30 or to contribute a different amount register at the front desk. No one turned away for lack of funds.
