About Ayurveda

Ayurveda is the indigenous health care of India.  The Ayur Vedas are ancient texts that describe how to live. They give advice for daily health habits, nutrition and diet, meditation, mantra, and general self care.  Ayurveda is a system that is ideally adapted when one is already healthy.  It is a system to preserve and promote optimal health.  While Ayurveda can be used to treat health disorders, we advise you to work in concert with your medical professional if you wish to use Ayurveda to treat larger health challenges.

Our practitioners offer Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultations.  While Angie Greenwood and Lisa Wells complete their training, the consultations will be  offered at a significant discount.  Each consultation consists of an initial information gathering session of 45 minutes to an hour, followed by a second session where you receive personalized yoga, meditation, and lifestyle recommendations for your Doshas.  For this introductory time, the first two sessions are $75.  You can register here or call us to make an appointment at 541 224 6566.

Doshas are the Ayurvedic Body Types.  There are three dominant Doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Some of us are dominantly one Dosha, other a mix of two or three Doshas.  We all have all three Doshas, the Body type speaks to the balance or imbalance of the Doshas in the body.

Vata Dosha is dominated by the elements Eir and space. When Vata Dosha is out of balance nervous and anxiety issues predominate. A Vata Dosha is prone to fear in the face of stressful situations.

Pitta Dosha is dominated by the element Fire.  When Pitta Dosha is out of balance digestive issues often predominate.  A Pitta Dosha individual is prone to anger in the face of stressful situations.

Kapha Dosha is dominated by the elements Water and Earth.  When Kapha Dosha is out of balance, stagnation of the body is often the symptom.  A Kapha Dosha is prone to obstinance and stubbornness in the face of stressful situations.
