Jenni Malm, BA, CA, LMT #12421, massage therapist and massage therapy instructor, has been yoga student for six years. “I am a Licensed Massage Therapist, and I simply cannot continue to enjoy my work if I don’t consistently care for myself – physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Without sufficient self-care, I will end up injured and depleted, so I value yoga highly for personal growth and sustenance. Furthermore, I frequently recommend yoga to my clients for their own personal gain. Many clients come to me with chronic pain and anxiety. I can help them get better with massage therapy, but they also need to maintain a trajectory towards greater health by engaging in proper self-care outside my office. Yoga is one of the self-care practices I recommend most.”
On the personal side…
I find inspiration…. In stories about people overcoming hardships.
My ideal day looks like…. Saying the right thing at the right time for an entire day without any foot-in-mouth mishaps. Wow!
My favorite joke…. A tortoise crossed the road when suddenly he was mugged by two snails. Down at the precint Officer O’Brian asked, “So, Fred, what happened out there? You look plenty beat up.” “I really can’t say, George. You see, it all happened so fast.”
My favorite ways to procrastinate…. Sit in the hot tub, open the refrigerator, start reading a new book, and take a nap.
I dream of…. Finding a little happiness each day and living within my means.
People are often surprised that I… Was in the Marine Corps.
I won’t live without… good, dark coffee.
My favorite movie… Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory – the one with Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka. I’m not sure if it’s the movie I like so much, or if it’s the fantasy of chocolate.
