Rachel Brinker, MA, is a licensed mamalates instructor as well as a postpartum doula. She combines this most recent training with her previous years of experience teaching yoga and core fitness classes, as well as her 1,000+ hours of massage therapy training and five years working as a massage therapist. Movement has always been an important part of her life, whether through dance, strength training, backpacking, or yoga and Pilates. Her own postpartum recovery after a fourth degree tear inspired her to devote her career to providing top-quality support to postpartum women as they navigate their way through early motherhood. The Heart of Yoga: Contemplative Immersion with Katelin Gallagher Sat, Jan 12, 2019 at 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Heart of Yoga: Contemplative Immersion & Yoga Sutra Study Course

A unique, six module intensive for those who are looking for an inspiring, structured meditation and contemplative yogic training that builds session to session. This immersion can be enrolled in separately or as a segment of Live Well’s 200-hr (RYS) Yoga Teacher Training Program.

Live Well Studio’s 2019 contemplative immersion program is for serious seekers, yogis, meditators and curious philosophers alike. Our three months of deep study together will follow a rich, sophisticated yogic curriculum and include deepening or progressive meditative practice, philosophical inquiry, postural practice, yogic techniques, community, and dialogue guided primarily by the classical yogic text: The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.

The weekend-based, 6-module program is designed to investigate embodied contemplative and meditative practice sequentially, beginning with foundations and building gradually to the deeper, dialectical, more esoteric yogic teachings. The immersion includes silent retreat weekends and culminates in a module called "Embodying Love," which is an exploration of contemplative practice off the cushion/yoga mat.

The flavor of the weekends will be influenced by the four schools of Tibetan Buddhism and our Patanjali Yoga source text, yet the practices will be held in a greater context of modern, Western, integral spirituality. Clear pathways will be carved by our time together, but each practitioner will weave his or her own journey. Participants will become steeped in practice and methodology, understanding not just the “how” but also the “why.” Entry by application. Led by philosopher, yogi and meditator, Katelin Gallagher.

Yoga and Movement Techniques for Trauma and the Traumatized: A workshop for movement teachers with L. Eleanor Wells Next held on Fri, Jan 18, 2019 at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
This enrollment runs from Fri Jan 18, 2019 - Sat Jan 19, 2019
Each of us carries not only the trauma of our current lives, but the trauma of our ancestors in our flesh, cells and dna. Trauma is a trigger that sets us up for health dysfunction, from PTSD, to sleep disorders, mood disorders, addictions, digestive disorders, pain, high blood pressure, copd, diabetes, auto-immune disorders, and probably even certain cancers. Dealing with the physical side of trauma can quickly improve physical and mental health. In this workshop we will review how trauma impacts the body, how it is stored in the body, and learn a variety of movement, breath and meditation techniques that ease trauma's symptoms and long term impacts. We will also review teaching language and pedagogy so that we can create classroom environments conducive to the healing of trauma and avoid triggering clients.

Prerequisite: Any prior certification as a movement or fitness teacher or coach.

Friday 1/18, 7-9p
Saturday 1/19, 1-5p
Early Bird $75 until 1/12, $99 thereafter

Lisa Eleanor Wells, PhD, eRYT500 is a somatic educator, a yoga teacher and yoga therapist, body geographer, improvisational dancer and performance artist. Her personal mission statement is: “To help people fall in love with life and the world.” Defining yoga as embodied movement she weaves together classical Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa, QiGong, Resistance Stretching, Feldenkrais, Body Mind Centering, Contemplative Dance, Contact Improv, DanceAbility, Pilates and Functional Fitness. Her classes welcome all individuals regardless of fitness level, shape, or size. She is a master of adapting the yoga pose to the individual rather than forcing the individual to adapt to the pose.
