200-hour Yoga Teacher Training

The Heart of Yoga: 200 Hour Yoga Teacher TrainingThe Heart of Yoga (1)
Instructors: Katie Zarajczyk, Katelin Gallagher & Jocelyn Darshana

September 2018-June 2019

Dive deep into the practice of yoga and become a yoga teacher. In the fall you’ll turn your attention to foundational topics of yoga practice and teaching, firmly establishing your personal practice and knowledge as a yogi, while entering the realm of holding space as a yogi guide. During the winter, explore the world of inner yoga - philosophy, contemplation, and meditation, as you refine your teaching through the power of contemplative practice. In the Spring, digging deeper into yoga philosophy and world view, you will practice observing and holding space for students, finding your unique voice, discuss the ethics of teaching to a varied population, and offer a full yoga class to your peers.

The fall immersion program will focus on building foundations of practice and teaching. We will explore teaching modalities, asana, alignment, anatomy, kinesiology, and creating community. Each weekend will build upon the last developing teaching methods, balanced sequencing, modifications, and adjustments while fostering a growing sense of confidence for leading an effective class. Led by Katie Zarajczyk, E-RYT500.

The winter immersion program can be taken as a stand alone or as part of the 200-hour training. It is for serious seekers, yogis, meditators and curious philosophers alike. Our three months of study will follow a rich, sophisticated yogic curriculum and include progressive meditative practice, philosophical inquiry, postural practice, yogic techniques, community, and dialogue. The program is designed to investigate embodied contemplative and meditative practice sequentially, beginning with foundations and building gradually to the complex, dialectical, esoteric yogic teachings. The immersion builds in preparation for a culminating module called "Embodying Love," which is an exploration of contemplative practice off the mat. Most practices are inspired by or derived from the schools of Tibetan Buddhism and classical Patanjali Yoga, yet the practices will be held in a greater context of modern, Western, integral spirituality. Clear pathways will be carved by our time together, but each practitioner will weave his or her own journey. Participants will become steeped in practice and methodology, understanding not just the “how” but also the “why.” Led by Katelin Gallagher E-RYT 500.

The spring Immersion will develop the outer expression of your inner work. We will focus on finding the seat of the teacher through discovering your unique voice and learning how to hold the yoga space for your students. Through the study of Sanskrit and Sacred Texts, Ethics of Teaching, and the Business of Yoga, we will round out this 200 Hour training by teaching a full yoga class to your peers. Led by Jocelyn Darshana, RYT 500, E-RYT 200.

I love yoga practice and the awareness, strength, knowledge and healing that accompany it. If I am feeling out of balance or a little off in any area of my life, I find an answer on my mat. It gives me time to get quiet, get in tune with my spirit and my heart. I took my first class in 2003 and fell in love. The simple but profound action of showing up, becoming present with the breath and letting go has truly changed my life. The mind-body-spirit connection I have found continues to deepen my understanding on and off the mat. My practice and my classes are a creative process for me, allowing me to further explore the connection that keeps me coming back. Every breath, every practice provides opportunity for a completely new experience, I hope to stay open to that possibility, and encourage others to do the same. I hope that any fellow yogi who finds my class will feel comfortable and at ease, free to explore their own individual process and their body as it is that day. E-RYT 500
I’ve practiced yoga for thirteen years, and have taught for the last nine. Each passing day brings me into deeper relationship with the practice, myself, and others. Yoga teaches me to unravel the intricacies of my heart and when I think I’ve reached some end point it guides me to a new corner. My hatha yoga practice teaches me to pay attention to my body, that there is much to be learned from this body, and that the body is a gateway to presence, wisdom and love. I am grateful to study Hatha Yoga with the masterful Kira Sloane, Lisa Wells, Darren Rhodes, and Christina Sell, and I study meditation, philosophy, and Tibetan Buddhism with Kimberley Theresa, Mira Shani, Jarret Levine, and Douglas Veenhoff. My meditation practice teaches me of the profundity of the mind, attention and dreams. I finished my Master's degree at OSU in contemplative practices, Buddhist philosophy, and psychology. I will be away for 2018 in a solitary meditation retreat. Please stay in touch: http://wisdomlotus.org
